Aims and Objectives
ESPASSA aims to identify specific areas of targeted research that could lead to poverty alleviation outcomes in the South Asian region.
The Situtaion Analysis being prepared by ESPASSA will:

Identify and analyze for the South Asian countries (1) the regional ecosystem services most important to the wellbeing of the poor (2) the main threats to the ecosystems that provide these services, with a special emphasis on climate change and monsoon variability (3) key ecosystem management opportunities for maximizing poverty alleviation
The outputs from the Situation Analysis will provide a comprehensive strategic understanding of the relationship between poverty and ecosystem services within the region and may be used to inform and guide the development of the regional projects, under the proposed next phase of the Ecosystem Services and Poverty Alleviation Programme.
